Why do we come to Yoga?

Why do people come to Yoga? What is it about Yoga that catches our attention, what is it that draws us to the practice?
For some it’s to become more flexible, to strengthen and tone the body For some it’s the promise of the quietened mind, to cultivate inner peace. For some it’s to heal, physically, emotionally and spiritually. For some it’s the rich philosophical teachings that date back many thousands of years that offer a means to navigate the ever changing circumstances of our personal landscapes as well as the world we live in. For some it’s the feeling of community that develops in a class, moving and breathing with others . These are only some of the reasons that draw us to the practice of Yoga.
The beauty and magic of this practice we call Yoga is that it doesn’t matter what the original motivation was that drew you to start, simply by practicing Yoga all the benefits will come to you. We are never just working with the body alone, Yoga is not just an exercise, Yoga is a journey of the spirit, of health, wellbeing and discovery. It doesn’t matter what age, shape, level of fitness, Yoga is for everybody, Yoga will meet you where you are, all you need do is start.
